Indian Cricketers to visit South Africa for three-match T20I series in August: Sources


New Delhi:  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday said that the cricket body in discussion with Cricket South Africa to play a three-match t20I series. As per media reports, the series is likely to be held in late August.

“Discussion are on but as of now, nothing has been finalised in terms of completing India’s series against South Africa. Travel restrictions are there, both boards are in touch and will see what happens,” the BCCI source told ANI.

Ahead of COVID-19 pandemic, the proteas were the last team to play against the Men in Blues on March 12. But, the match was abandoned due to rain and wet outfield at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamsala. The remaining ODIs were also called due to the virus outbreak.

“India wants to honour its agreement. If it’s postponed, maybe a bit later. We’ve had a very good discussion with them,” Jacques Faul, CSA’s acting chief executive, told a virtual media briefing on Thursday.

Speaking about, a source with BCCI said, “Yes, of course, we are looking for a window but again nothing concrete. It will be premature to comment on it,” as quoted by ANI.

The cash-rich league has been suspended indefinitely due to the spread of coronavirus.

With the domestic flight service set to resume from May 25, the BCCI may hold a meeting to discuss the possibility of the Indian Premier League ahead of the T20 World Cup.
