New Delhi: Govt app to track positive cases of coronavirus has now finally gone live. The app is called Aarogya Setu and is available for download on Android and iOS platforms. The app has been created by the National Informatics Centre which comes under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. According to the description in the app, it has been aimed at “augmenting” efforts to “proactively” inform the citizens regarding the “best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19.”The basic function of the app is the same as the one the beta version which is using your phone’s location data and Bluetooth to find out if you’ve been near a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. This is done by looking through a database of known cases obtained from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
