Two new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Delhi and Telangana, both patients safe: Govt


New Delhi : Two new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Monday. While one of the confirmed cases is reported from a Delhi hospital, another is from Telangana.

“One positive case of COVID-19 has been detected in New Delhi, and one has been detected in Telangana. The person from Delhi has travel history from Italy (where the outbreak has killed 41), while the other has travel history from Dubai,” the government of India said in a statement, adding, “Both patients are being closely monitored.”

This is the first instance that confirmed cases of Coronavirus have been reported from India. The pandemic which originated in the Chinese city Wuhan– epicentre of the outbreak– had led to the death of 2,912 people in the country. The overall death toll had crossed 3,000 around the world with nearly 88,000 confirmed cases of the deadly disease.
