Sugar mill issue: Two Employees have already commits suicide


Badaun:  There are more than 200 employees of Shekhupur Cooperative Sugar Mill who have retired for three years. But till now the dues have not been paid to them. In such a situation, the families of the mill workers are suffering from financial crisis. The employees of Shekhupur Mill have been agitating for a long time for the payment of dues. During this, two employees have even committed suicide. One has died at the protest site and Dhir Singh died due to lack of better treatment due to financial constraints.

On 9 March 2016, lab chemist Umesh Tiwari killed himself by shooting himself in a mill. His daughter’s wedding was on March 17 and she was not getting payment from the mill. In April 2011, Ved Prakash Gupta committed suicide by consuming poison. In June 2015, an employee named Laxman Prasad died of a heart attack on the spot itself. Even after this, the mill management is not serious about the payment of dues to the employees.

Meanwhile, the strike of mill workers at Malviya residence continued for the 75th day on Sunday. No one reached Dhir Singh’s house on behalf of the mill management and officials. Fellow retired employees went to Dhir Singh’s house and offered condolences.

Former MP Dharmendra Yadav reached the protest site
Former MP Dharmendra Yadav also reached Malviya residence and met the retired employees. He told the employees that he would make every effort to clear the dues of the mill employees from his level. The mill employees also gave a memorandum to the former MP. It has been said in the memorandum that during the SP government, a budget of 20 crores was given to the mill for the payment of dues of the employees of Shekhupur Mill. Due to this many employees were also paid. After this, till now the budget has not been given to the mill by the government.
