Coronavirus: Two suspected cases in India, 80 dead in China


New Delhi: The coronavirus outbreak that began in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, in the province of Hubei, continues to expand its footprints across the globe with several countries reporting confirmed cases of the deadly virus.

The death toll in China has mounted to 80 with 2,744 confirmed cases. The confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus officially described as 2019-nCoV included 461 patients who are in critical condition.

In India, suspected cases of virus have been reported Bihar’s Patna and Rajasthan’s Jaipur. The suspected cases have been rushed to the hospitals for further tests to confirm if they have been infected.

The alarming rise in the number of cases has stoked fears of a global pandemic during the Lunar New Year, China’s peak travel season.

Cases have also been confirmed in sevaral Asian countries, with the latest one being in Nepal. Other regions which have reported confirmed cases of coronavirus include Europe and North America.
