Youth Organization Protests over Removal of Sacred Thread and Tilak from Class 6 Girl in Government School,Probe Begins
Badaun: Hundreds of activists from the Youth Forum Organization, led by District Vice President Pushpendra Srivastava and Vivek Sharma, submitted a memorandum to the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) addressed to the District Magistrate of Badaun. The memorandum was in protest against an incident at the Girls’ Pre-Secondary School in Usait Nagar Panchayat, where a Class 6 student’s sacred thread (kalava) and tilak (religious mark on the forehead) were forcibly removed by teachers.
While submitting the memorandum, Youth Forum Organization President Dhruv Dev Gupta demanded the registration of an FIR against teachers Savita and Farha. He stated that on May 2, 2025, at the Girls’ Pre-Secondary School in Usait, teachers Savita and Farha allegedly instructed a Class 6 student to remove her kalava and tilak, which are Hindu religious symbols. When the student refused, the teachers reportedly cut the kalava with scissors and wiped off the tilak from her forehead. The student was also prohibited from applying a bindi-like tilak and was scolded by teacher Farha for applying a tilak during fasting, which was deemed inappropriate.
Gupta emphasized that children are considered divine in Hindu culture and urged the authorities to take the matter seriously to prevent religious provocation. He demanded that a case be registered against the teachers at the Usait police station for hurting Hindu religious sentiments, asserting that such actions in an educational institution are unacceptable. He warned that failure to take action would lead to strong protests by the organization. Additionally, the organization has sent letters to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at 302 C Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, to raise the issue. Meanwhile BSA Badaun forms team under ABSA to probe the matter and submit report earliest to take necessary action into the matter.
