Maruti Launches E Vitara At Rs 10.99 Lakh

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India, today launched its maiden battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e Vitara, in the domestic market. While the company has not yet revealed the variant-wise pricing, the entry-level variant can be had for a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription of Rs 10.99 lakh (introductory) in addition to a battery running cost of Rs 3.99/km.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara can also be booked for a token amount of Rs 21,000 via a Nexa showroom or by visiting the official Nexa website.

The electric SUV is available with a couple of battery pack options — 49kWh and 61kWh — based on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The introductory BaaS pricing is for the base variant with 49kWh battery pack. However, the BaaS price here excludes all government statutory levies like road tax, insurance and TCS. For reference, BaaS eliminates the upfront battery cost of an electric car, thereby decreasing the acquisition cost.

The company has announced a couple of assured buyback plans — three years or 45,000km plan offers up to 60% value, while four years or 60,000km plan offers up to 50% value. Also, the carmaker will provide a complementary home charger and installation worth Rs 50,000. This will be in addition to a complementary charging facility for one year at the exclusive Maruti Suzuki charging network. The two complementary facilities and the introductory BaaS pricing are for customers who purchase the e Vitara till March 31, 2026.

“Maruti Suzuki’s EV strategy has been developed to ensure that the e Vitara becomes the primary EV choice for customers. The e Vitara offers a commendable driving range of over 543km, supported by ‘e for me’ charging ecosystem that mirrors the reliability our customers have trusted for decades,” said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India.

“With over 1,500 EV-ready service centres, specially trained Nexa EV relationship managers and dedicated charging managers, the e Vitara offers complete peace-of-mind. We are also introducing attractive flexible ownership plans with BaaS, alongside exclusive benefits for early adopters that make the e Vitara an irresistible proposition,” he added.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is available in three variants — Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The carmaker is yet to announce variant-wise prices of the e Vitara.

The mid-size SUV segment is becoming increasingly competitive, both in the electric vehicle (EV) space and the internal combustion engine (ICE) category. Most major carmakers now have offerings in this segment, giving customers a wide range of choices.

For the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, rivals include the Mahindra BE 6, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV and VinFast VF6.

Powering the electric SUV is a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The 49kWh battery pack version produces 105.8kW, while the 61kWh battery pack variant delivers 128kW. Peak torque stands at 192.5Nm for both versions.

Maruti Suzuki claims a driving range of 440km for the 49kWh battery pack and 543km for the 61kWh unit. The battery packs have a standard warranty of eight years or 1.6 lakh km (whichever is earlier). For the whole vehicle, the warranty stands at eight years — three (standard) + five (paid). The vehicle has undergone testing in extreme temperature conditions ranging from -30°C to 60°C.

In terms of safety, the e Vitara has secured a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP. It scored 31.49 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 43.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection. Seven airbags, including a driver-side knee airbag, are offered as standard across variants. The electric SUV also features electronic stability control, all-disc brakes, an electronic parking brake, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and Level 2 ADAS.

The exterior design follows a restrained approach. The SUV is equipped with 3-point Matrix LED daytime running lamps, LED projector headlamps and LED tail-lamps. It drives on 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels fitted with low rolling resistance MRF Wanderer tyres to aid efficiency. A roof-end spoiler is also part of the design.

Inside, the e Vitara features a digital cockpit with a 10.1-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch multi-information display. Other highlights include ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, sliding and reclining rear seats with a 40:20:40 split, a fixed glass sunroof and an Infinity by Harman sound system. Suzuki Connect offers over 60 connected car features. Multiple drive and regenerative braking modes are available.

To support EV adoption, Maruti Suzuki has introduced a charging ecosystem under its ‘e for me’ initiative. The company has set up more than 2,000 exclusive charging points across its sales and service network in over 1,100 cities. It has also partnered with 13 charge point operators. By 2030, the company plans to facilitate access to more than 1 lakh public charging points.
